You may not realise that you should be trimming your wick each time before lighting & re-lighting your candle? Do this and you will see a remarkable difference in the way your candles perform.

Keeping your candle wick trimmed helps control flame height, too big a flame will cause the candle to burn too hot which isn’t safe but it will also create black soot, not pretty. Who wants a candle with nasty black soot all over the inside walls of the candle vessel.... no thanks! So to prevent this you can trim your wick before each burn to approx 5mm, that’s quite short but don’t be scared it's where you want your wick height to be. You will see the flame is low and inside your candle vessel now rather than above it. If your flame is too high you can use a pair of Wick Trimmers to trim off the excess wick (which might look like a ball or mushroom if it's never been trimmed before) and same goes for your wooden wick candles just trim the burnt wood & ash off before you light your candle again. You will notice that the flame has gone back to a normal and safe height. This will also create a clean & even burn prolonging the life of your candle.
